High on their ridge, the buildings of Bolsover Castle form an impressive spectacle, while a closer inspection reveals some fascinating detail. Conservation work at Bolsover has revived its splendour and, in the Little Castle, has unveiled some of the most intact, surviving interiors of the 17th century. The Riding House is one of only a few buildings of its type in the country, while the stately Terrace Range with its gallery commands a wonderful view of the Derbyshire countryside. The new guidebook records some of the treasures of Bolsover in words and pictures, and offers a colourful history of those who lived and worked here, particularly in the castle's 17th-century heyday.
