Official covers

Chicken Soup for the Soul is the umbrella title for the highly successful series of inspirational books co-authored by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. Both authors are experts in the field of personal empowerment and growth--Canfield specialising in training professionals; Hansen in attaining strategic excellence. In Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, the Canfield and Hansen are joined by Kimberly Kirberger, managing editor of the Chicken Soup for the Soul organisation (and Jack Canfield's sister). Kirberger has worked with disabled children and she spends much of her free time working with teenagers. As such, Kirberger spearheaded the collation of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul by working closely with a group of teens who identified the issues they wanted to see covered, and then selected the stories that best conveyed them. Over half the stories in this excellent collection are written by teenagers and they are grouped under chapter headings which include relationships, friendship, family, love and kindness, education and making a difference. The stories are fun and heart-warming, sometimes hard and emotionally tough but always enlightening. And on the end pages there are details of the contributors, both adult and teenage alike. This is one of those feel-good books which genuinely lives up to its billing: 101 stories to open the heart and rekindle the spirit.--Lucas LoBlack
