My family has been in bookselling since 1954 when my parents opened a Christian bookstore in Oxnard, California. I grew up working in the book store and received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Management from California State University, Fresno in 1974.

Between 1974 and 1996 I owned bookstores and helped manage 24 bookstores from Oceanside to Oakland and Santa Barbara to Palm Desert to Porterville. But most of those years I have worked in Ventura. In 1996 I became aware of the Internet bookselling industry. By then, I was married and had three daughters. The whole family has worked in our business from sorting books, to warehouse processing, shipping orders and helping serve customers in our local independent bookstores. In 1998 we opened our first used & new store in Ventura, called Abednego Book Shoppe. The following year, 1999 we purchase a store called Second Time Around and renamed it Bank of Books. We remained in that location until 2006 when we moved to our current location, 748 E. Main Street, downtown Ventura. Bank of Books has over 5,000 square feet, two floors of shelves of books. In 2012 we open a Bank of Books in Malibu at 29169 Heathercliff Rd. Suite #109 in Point Dume Village. Bank of Books - Malibu has 1,200 square feet of tailored book selections. Don't let the small square footage fool you they have an impressive rare book section.
